Card Layout Challenge #182

This week’s card challenge design was sent in by Margo a while ago.  She actually emailed me the card she liked and I made it into a layout format.  This a great opportunity to bring out your die-cuts such as Spellbinders or use your machine.

The edges of the smaller squares do not have to be at a 90〫angle.  They can be rounded, corner tucked, etc.  In the circle, the three smaller circles can be brads, stick-on pearls, etc.

I LOVE all these cards…such creativity!

Card Layout Challenge #181

This week I decided to do an interactive card challenge.  I did a search on Google and saw a layout I had done once in one of my SU! stamp camps a number of years ago.  The type of card is known by a number of names but the two common ones are pull-up/pop-up card or surprise pop-up card.

Upon further search on Google images, I found that one of our members, Patti Lee had an Asian Christmas card with this type of layout.  Patti’s blog is called here.

Here are various links to tutorials on how to make this card.  It isn’t too complicated.  Tape, scoring, paper cutter, paper, stamp, ink…I think that’s all you need….Oh, and time to do it!

It was interesting to see how this week’s challenge was interpreted.  Do take a look!

Card Layout Challenge #180

Way back in February, Emilie Boyd posted a card that Wendy had created for the Kiss Mingle.  Well, I absolutely fell in love with that card, so I have made it into a card layout for you to try this week.  Cutting out the squares will be a bit time consuming , but the result will be stunning!  If you have a die cut machine, perhaps you might have this window shape.

These few members were brave to try out this week’s challenge.  They all look great!

Card Layout Challenge #179

This week’s challenge is inspired by Carla van der Mei-Stolk.  Carla posted a How-to on OSA of a card she sent those members who had joined her Men Mingle Swap.  I thought that would be a great challenge for this week.

If you have Nestabilities or something like it, now is the change to bring them out and begin playing.  Although Carla used an octagon nestie, I’m sure you can use other shapes as well.

Directions from Carla’s post:
•I glued the Nestabilitie on the rubber strip , marked the middle of the card and put the rubber strip between it.
•Used some painters-tape to tape it on the card.
•Then I put it all in my cuttlebug (until it stops at the rubberstrip, turn it and do it again) and  then used
the Score-Pal to score the lines and fold it.

I got the idea from a YouTube-video and here is the link to it…..it explains it all  ;o)

Give it a try…and have fun tooo in trying it out. Much cheaper than buying the newest sizzix movers-shapers die for this! And you can use any nestabillitie or other dies you have for it.
