Card Layout Challenge #230

This week’s card layout is by Liz Clempson.  Her card was featured on About Art Accents Facebook page.  I liked it, so I decided to feature the design.  It might be similar to one we have had in the past, but that’s ok!  Please notice the size of the circles–they are BIG.  Notice the image is repeated three times.  You can’t see it well, but there is an edging around the card.  I know its a holiday week in the US, but let us see how many of you have time to create this week!

Unfortunately, there were no takers for Challenge 229, a treasure chest.  Should any of you end up trying this one and finishing it, just emailed me a picture of it and I will upload it here!

Card Layout Challenge #229

Not quite a card layout, but…….
The new Challenge #229 was suggested by Annette.  We actually did a mingle one time doing something similar to this. You will have TWO WEEKS to complete this challenge.

Challenge:  A Treasure Chest!
Treasure chests have always been fun, so you might consider having a layout that incorporates ‘self’ on a decorated box.
The box could be any size box with a lid.  You would choose whatever parts of your ‘self’ that suits you.  Of course, stamped images are a must.

You will need to gather materials:

  • 1 box with a lid…any kind of box, something you can glue paper onto.  It can be made of thick cardboard (not corrugated), wood, pressed board, etc. Think “Decoupage box”, but does not have to be that. It can be any size.
  • Rubber Stamps — at least ONE oriental related
  • Adhesive — paper cement, rubber cement, PPA
  • Decorative Papers

Theme:  Be thinking about traits that tells us something about YOU.  What you like, things you do..anything that can be incorporated into an oriental theme.

Optional items:

  • tissue paper
  • fabric
  • embellishments

Examples:
…A stamper who also is a gardener might stamp a plain sheet of tissue paper with flower images, color them, and use paper cement, rubber cement, PPA, or PPA to adhere the paper to both lid and box.

…A stamper who loves kimonos and geishas could use these as her theme using both collage sheets and stamped images.
…Stamped wrapping paper torn and adhered…

The backs of some wrapping papers are white, so it would be a perfect weight to use for stamping and decorating a box.
Stampers could also stamp fabric to cover a box.

As a Bonus, http://www.artneko.com is sponsoring the self layout box by giving all Oriental Stamp Art member participants who use their images, a $10 coupon good on any $20 order.

We only had a a few days for this challenge and look at the lovely cards that were created!  Thanks, Ladies!

Card Layout Challenge #228

Just a reminder….For this week’s challenge, I will post all the cards made for Layout #228 on Wednesday afternoon. You can still create and post your cards for this challenge to the group after that date, but those cards will not be uploaded until the 26th.

Also, PLEASE NOTE…..I will post a NEW challenge Wednesday afternoon before I leave on vacation.  You will have TWO weeks to get it done…PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE  when you post to the group a scan of your challenge, send me a copy of it as well.  That way, when I return, I will be able to easily find it as opposed to me having to go to the online group and doing a search there.

This week’s card layout is long and narrow.  You need to keep the orientation the same as I have it.  The circle in the middle can be an embellishment such as a button, flower, etc.  Not counting the image rectangles, there are four layers.  One layer looks like a narrow strip around the images.  The outer layer, which is the card base, is colored white.  Usually I shade it gray.

Card Layout Challenge #227

I found another card online with a great design.  For this week’s challenge, you will need an Asian text background, either a newspaper or an actual stamp with a text image.  You will also need a main image stamp.  Your main text image will be stamped cover part of the the circle and part of the layer below.  The text will be on a separate layer as shown.
